Lord of the flies- book review

The famous allegorical novel by William Golding, Lord of the Flies, is a book like no other.

It’s a story about how a group of boys, ranging from the ages 6 – 12, managed to survive living in a dessert island in the middle of nowhere without supervision and how they slowly became rivals of each other, after their plane broke down and all the adults tragically died, it’s all good and fun unlit the ‘Lord of the Flies’ starts playing mind-games with them.

The main characters we come across is Ralph and Jack. Ralph is the leader he is known for his bravely and fairness, although, in the beginning, Jack seems to accept it, the last chapters show otherwise. Speaking of Jack, he is mostly known to have savage nature, but I would also characterize him as strong-willed.  Then we have Simon, one of the littluns, he is full of kindness (not to be unfair to the others, but he is my personal favorite).

The author uses advanced language, and an impressing was of setting a scene. What truly left a mark on me was the character development, of no other than Jack. How power and leadership blinded him, and he became a completely different person. What also impressed me, and this thought keeps me up at night, is how the circumstances forced children to act like something they are not, adults.

I would undisputedly recommend this book, not for all ages thought, I think it would be ideal for teens and adults. What kept me occupied and alerted was the horror elements, not particularly scary or creepy, I was rather quivering with fear. Warning: I’m not an emotional person yet in the end I cried, just a little bit.
